Clinton, Mo. – (Nov. 12, 2019) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) is seeking new members for its Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC).
The goal of the Patient and Family Advisory Council is to create a collaboration where patients, families, clinicians and hospital employees can work together to provide guidance to improve the patient experience, as well as outcomes, quality and safety.
“The wellbeing and satisfaction of patients is our number one priority,” said Tina Jones, director of quality, risk and patient experience at GVMH. “Patients and their families are often the most knowledgeable members of the care team and can offer unique perspectives and valuable feedback about the care they receive. Together, we can improve our service to the community and create a better healthcare experience.”
During a PFAC meeting, a member might do the following:
• Participate in discussion groups. Advisors talk about what it is like to be a patient or family member of a patient and how GVMH can improve the care, quality, safety and service that they provide.
• Share input from the patient and family perspective about hospital policies, care practices and patient education materials.
• Identify patient and family needs and concerns.
The council meets every other month at GVMH. The meeting usually lasts about one and a half hours and lunch is provided.
If you are interested in becoming a PFAC advisor, please complete an application from the PFAC webpage and submit to Tina Jones at tjones@gvmh.org. Candidates will then be selected to participate in an interview process.
