Clinton, Mo. – (Dec. 6, 2019) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) is pleased to announce that Marlene Chapman is the December staff member of the month.
Chapman has been an employee of GVMH since June 2008 and currently works as a section supervisor in the laboratory.
Coworkers who nominated Chapman had the following to say about her: “Marlene has many great qualities and is a tremendous asset to our team. She never seems to have a bad day, always has a smile on her face and goes the extra mile for her coworkers. She is proactive and takes responsibility for solving lab problems while suggesting solutions. Marlene listens attentively to others to ensure she fully understands their needs before responding. She truly embodies the GVMH spirit.”
“Marlene was the point person for the lab during the recent computer conversion. She attended meetings for several months and worked long hours to build the blood bank module. The IT team even stated that she goes above and beyond, even if the tasks were not directly her duties. Marlene was determined to guarantee a smooth transition for the lab, patients and staff. She was instrumental in starting up and training staff on the Mobilab system and continues to provide assistance when additional training needs arise.”
“Marlene is now the blood bank supervisor, but was originally hired as a phlebotomist. While her position and duties have changed over the years, Marlene continues to assist phlebotomists by collecting patient specimens, when needed. She is an amazing staff member who displays her commitment to GVMH and our patients every day.”
In addition to being named staff member of the month, Chapman received a flower bouquet, a $100 gift certificate and her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed in the hospital. Chapman is also one of 12 finalists for the 2019-2020 staff member of the year award.
