Clinton, Mo. – (Sept. 9, 2020) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) recently received a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program for more than $800,000 to expand its telehealth capabilities.
The Distance Learning and Telehealth Grant Program helps rural healthcare organizations acquire technology to connect rural residents with medical professionals. GVMH will use the funds to provide patients with new and expanded services in areas such as maternal fetal medicine, teleneonatology, teleorthopedics, telepsychiatry, teleSANE and telestroke.
Funds received from the grant project, entitled Keeping Rural Missouri Tele-Healthy, along with additional support from the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation will allow GVMH to purchase 11 telehealth robots for use across all four clinics in Clinton, Osceola, Warsaw and Windsor, as well as its East and West Campus locations, Emergency Department, Hospital and Outpatient Treatment Center.
“The COVID pandemic has demonstrated the value of telehealth and our organization is passionate about making our providers more accessible for patients,” said Craig Thompson, CEO at GVMH. “This is the largest grant we have ever received and it will significantly help us in expanding our telehealth capabilities and ease the burden placed on patients who must travel to receive the care they need.”
