Clinton, Mo. – (Jan. 15, 2021) – The State of Missouri has announced that it will allow all individuals over age 65 and individuals between ages 18 and 64 with an underlying health condition to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
This includes anyone age 65 and older, and adults with cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, heart conditions, weakened immune system due to organ transplant, severe obesity (BMI>40), pregnancy, sickle cell disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, such as down syndrome.
The COVID-19 vaccine is a multi-dose vaccine administered through a shot. The second dose is given 21-28 days later depending on the vaccine you receive. You must get both shots as scheduled for the vaccine to be effective. The vaccine is free.
Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) has started offering vaccination clinics, by appointment only.
To schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine, please call 660.890.8660. Our call center is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. This number is the most efficient way to schedule a vaccine and allows GVMH to keep its other phone lines available for patients that have other medical needs. GVMH is already experiencing high call volumes, so please expect a delay.
“We are delighted to see the overwhelming demand of people that want to receive the vaccine to help stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Craig Thompson, CEO at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare. “However, we ask that you please be patient, flexible and understand that we will administer as many immunizations as quickly as we can, but are limited by the supply of vaccines we receive from the state.”
If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, please contact your primary care provider.
